Question for those who knows more that me (that would be all of you
) I was installing new 1/2" water hoses on my 97 GTX and inadvertently switched the two hoses on the transom. Top one on the head is to go to the top hose connection for back flush the other hose to the jet pump and also tees to the pressure regulator on the muffler. Yep, those two got switched. I ran the machine from the launch to the shore, about five/six minutes and ran great. When I stopped I noticed a lot of smoke coming from within. Pulled the seat and saw that the smoke was coming from the muffler toasting the paint. It looking like a perfectly browned turkey. When I got home corrected the hoses, connected the garden hose and ran it and it seemed to be fine. My question... was any water getting to the motor to cool it with this hose configuration out on the lake? Did the motor heat up to the extent like the muffler? How much damage do you think was done if any?
