So the throttle got completely stuck wide open on my 96 gti. I took it apart but didnt want to go any further so i took it to my marine mechanic. The spring that releases my throttle cable back from full throttle to idle was broken along with the cable for my oil. So he removed the cable for my oil, fixed my throttle cable and now i'm premixing 40:1? I got the ski back today it has never ran so good..my oil tank is still hooked up except for that cable..oil tank is full..premixing 40:1. Am i missing anything or am i good to go? Figured id ask the pros. thanks guys. JB

ask him if he removed the gear??
otherwise take off pump and remove gear and hose feeding it.
You could get a block plate or just bolt pump again w/o gear.
Leave other line connected to feed RV.

If the cable for the oil pump broke, the oil pump should have gone to full oil injection, which would save your motor..

The oil injection system on the SeaDoo's is a very reliable oil pump. I would be PISSED of my mechanic just disconnected my oil pump instead of fixing it with a $2 cable...

The oil injection system on a SeaDoo is a variable injection system and unlike other systems doesn't just inject a set amount of oil (like 40:1), it injects different oil at different mixtures depending on the throttle position..

But as mentioned, if you are going to stay pre-mix, make sure that your 'mechanic' took the gear off the oil pump, and make sure that you keep oil going to the RV.

what about your rotary shaft did he leave the hoses hooked up. Thats where it gets it's oil from.

THECHAD Are you saying that since it is all still hooked up except for the cable that i don't need to premix?

I think i read that if you unhook or broke a cable to the oil pump it go's to the full open position so as not to seize you engine. So if he just took the cable off the oil pump is in the wide open position.

If your 'mechanic' didn't do anything other then remove the already broken cable, and then told you to pre-mix, the very first thing you need to do is get a new 'mechanic', because that guy doesn't have a clue what he's doing!!

If he didn't remove the gear behind the oil pump, then the oil pump is in full open position AND you are pre-mixing... I'm suprised it'll even run..

You had better find out for 100% sure what EXACTLY your 'mechanic' did. If all he did was remove the cable and didn't actually remove the gear behind the oil pump, *I* would get a new cable, reconnect the oil pump, drain the gas, and push fresh gas back in.
