Got my 97 XP running pretty good after new engine, new starter , motor mounts, battery, trim motor, switches, rectifier,repaired fuel gauge sending unit and used MEPM with DESS lanyard. Took over a year got kind of frustrated after installing the engine and found all the other problems.
But anyway.... I have only one DESS lanyard key and would like another one. Is the lanyard program to the MEPM or the MPEM is program to the lanyard no matter how many lanyard I have.
Can I take the lanyard to the dealer and get another on that is th correct code?.
On older GM cars with VAT system the key had a resistor chip in it that had different values for each key (15). We had a reader to tell what key the customer had.
Does the DESS lanyard have resistor chip in it? Wat is the MEPM looking for? I measured the resistance of the lanyard and it was something like 37K. Seems very high if they are resistance chips as the code.
