I’ve got my seadoo up on a dolly in the garage and I wanted to see what I can do to clean it up. It spends the whole summer sitting in the water so it’ll be hard to clean or keep it clean. But based on these pictures, what do you think I can do to clean this corrosion before putting it back in the water?

Also, does my driveshaft/impeller look in ok condition?

My lake is freshwater. Thanks!

She must have been running in salt water before as most paint is flaked off?
I would dismantle and clean with a brash brush. The zinc anodes have no effect in fresh water, you need magnesium for fresh water, or aluminium which can handle both fresh and salt water.
Wear ring seem to have some running marks and impeller had some good use but difficult to conclude on these pictures.

I really doubt she was in salt water. It only had one owner, who likely cottages near me as I googled him and he's from Toronto, and everything near us is fresh water.

The machine is 12 years old, but the exterior is like brand new, even the seat upholstery. Just the areas I photographed are not looking too hot.

I don't quite understand what you're referring to for the zinc anodes/magnesium.

Nonetheless, I'll probably try and give it a good cleaning like you said!

Oh, OK that might explain a lot. Maybe it looks more bad than it is then.
If you keep her on fresh water the zinc anode is not working, works only with seawater. Meaning no protection against corrosion.

looks like marine life, probably sat on a lift on dock.

A wire wheel could work on getting the surface material off but you'd have to reapply the coating.

Wire wheel is a good idea. Seems like it would be the easiest. What coating would that be?

Don't use steel wire wheel as it will create more corrosion a brass wire wheel is OK to use.

No problem, several ways to skin a cat, just don't use steel on aluminium. I am lazy these days and just use chemical gasket stripper. No dust and it works quickly.

Is it just a spray you apply? And does it require any scrubbing?

Also, it is ok to apply that generously to all the areas I posted pictures of, except the impeller and drive shaft?
