2005 RXT 4-Tec. BEWARE... the circlip (Circlip 6mm, Part #293370005) that secures the hood rod to the hood will rust out and fail. The circlip appears to be either not stainless steel, or very poor quality stainless steel. I have two identical 2005 RXTs. On one, the circlip failed. On the other, upon inspection, the circlip had already broken and was on its way to failing.
If your hood rod becomes unattached from the hood, to implement the repair you will have to deal with compressing the strut / shock. There is a horizontally-oriented groove in the plate that connects the strut to the hood rod and hull. Stick a 1/2" socket wrench handle, or 1/2" breaker bar, into the groove, and you will be able to compress the strut / shock in order to reattach the hood rod to the hood.
