checking pop-off pressure

Maybe I'm slow, but is it me or does the search function not work here?? I get no results, no matter the key word. :reddevil:

I'm trying to get the mikinis on my '93 XP performing like they are supposed to, and am having a good deal of trouble. I have been trying to check pop off. I do not have an off the shelf tester, but am using an rubber tipped blow nozzle on my air compressor and setting the regulator to the pressure I am looking for. I am applying pressure to the inlet, and blocking the return with my finger tip like the manual states.

I also recall someone saying you had to do something different with the carb with the fuel pump if i recall correctly??

That said, to make either carb "pop off" it takes about 60 PSI. It will occur lower if i give it a slight bit of help with my finger. I figured this meant sticking needle and seat, so after this I replaced both (2 mm) but ended up with the same result.

I have a winderosa carb kit with a variety of springs, and none of the others will get me close to spec (under 29 psi). What am i doing wrong????

Did you look at the Sticky on Carb adjusting? I think most of the answers are in there already.

You cant use a blow gun. You need a hose, and to make sure it's all sealed. Any leaks will mess up your test. I use shop air, and just turn up a regulator until it pop's. But, my rig has a ball valve so I can turn it off, and make sure the needle will hold pressure.
