Hey guys!
My seadoo challenger is cavitation good really badly. Hits redline 8.2k immediately whenever I floor it and then takes a really long time to get on plane. I have read about the ride plate not being sealed correctly but am still thinking the jet pump might just need rebuilt? What are you thoughts? Do the after market Solas props come with the bearing already installed? Thanks

Cavitation comes from the disruption in the laminar flow of water through the pump.

First thing first, check to make sure you do not have anything in the intake grate. Grass, seaweed, anything. On the trailer crawl under it with a good light. Look into the grate at the impeller.

Take a photo for us here and we can comment as well.

These are some pictures I got from underneath. I can see where a lot of RTV has been applied but the ski is in great condition and was always serviced at a dealer.. might not be the case. Thank you for any and all advice!

I have heard that there are issues with it leaking from the ride plate not being sealed properly.. have you looked into that

My thoughts:

1.. When did this start? After service? Out of the blue?
2.. Your impeller has a very much noticeable gap between it and the wear ring. It also looks filed on the leading edge (Ok) but filed on the outer edge (Not Ok)
3.. They really went wild with the sealant. Some of that would have a possible disruption on the laminar flow, which could contribute to cavitation. Mine has some like yours on it when I bought it used. I cleaned mine up alot. It helped reduce cavitation on hole shot.
4.. If you suspect your ride plate sealant may have a gap, duck tape it and take a run.

Cheers,

Needs new wear ring or impeller, maybe both. replace with stainless and not the OEM plastic one. my boat will do a wheely out of the hole with stainless and Solas ConcordeR impeller.
