I just bought a set of NOVI carbs, I think that they are 46mm and was woundering if they will work on my 1997 challenger with a 787 . I know that changing out my inpellar will help in the long run ,,going with a skat swirl 17 / 22" trying to get the most out of this motor without blowing it up

46's are a little big on an 800 engine. You may have a problem going lean, if you open the throttle quick. Then... it may alow the engine to over-rev.

All I can say is to bolt them on..... massage the jetting to get it right... and see what they do.

If you are worried about melting the engine... you may not want to even try them. The quickest way to melt an engine, is to run it lean. And since you are trying to get something to work, that may not be the best size... then you will have your hands full on the tuning. If they have an accelerator pump, or "Mid" jet... it will be easier.
