just rebuilt the carbs on the starboard motor. Cranked and started right up. bogs when I throttle up. Ive read about the carb synching so thats next. Anything else I should check out??
Port motor carbs are next>

ok just did the other carbs and installed them. runs much better. need to tweek the return springs on the throttle linkeage I think. The throttle doesnt return on its own.
whats the easiest way to sync them. just by looking at the butteryfly?? making sure they are in the same position?

also I didnt do any sort of pop off test but Ive been reading that I shouldnt have to if I re-use the springs and not use the new ones from the kit.
TRUE??

If you used the old springs you should be ok. I like to do a pop off test anyway when I do a rebuild. Be sure the throttle valve snaps back to idle position. If it doesn't, the small bushings on the throttle valve(butterfly) shaft could be corroded and need replacing. Sometime you can spray some PB Blaster on it to free them up. If it won't snap closed you need to remove it and replace the small teflon bushings. To sync the carbw look and adjust them so they react exactly the same on each.

springs...

good job, twin...no need for it. What is curious though, is the "return" spring...if the throttle plates didnt return by themselves, when you had it apart, then you could've lubed up the bushings, and worked out the stiffness. If anything, you can install some type of spring on the pto throttle plate and to somewhere on boat..mount, steering cable..etc, so then, it will return to idle.
