I took my boat in for service thinking it was the throttle cable was stuck, due to the right motor racing to 7k when put in F, but it turns out the carb plates might be stuck, I had a problem this fall, where someone put the pet cock in and it rained and the engine bay had water up to just about the bottom of the carb, for about 2 months till I uncovered the boat and saw the havac. Could that water maybe got into the carb and caused something to stick, the dealer says it prob needs a rebuild at 800 dollars, is there another option should I try spraying some xps spray lube, any help would be great

take the carbs off, and go thru them, yourself. 800 buks, for a 4hr job, thats crazy. If anything, they just need gone thru, and not rebuilt.

I know there is a couple threads Im afraid to remove the cables, do not want to change adjustments, is there a way to take them off and leave the cables attached, and also do I need a carb kit to go through them, I would imagine alot of the stuff would be old and need replacement, and where could one get a kit for these carbs, thanks again for the responce!

undo the "nuts" on insides of plate, so you dont mess up the adjustment. If it happens, all you do, is loosen/tighten the nuts to take out excessive play. If you want to rebuild them, parkeryamaha.com,has the kits...

Thanks for the responce, I see them on parkers web site, do you know what carb I should have on my boat, 28 mm etc, so I can get the right kit... thanks
