First off, hello, I am a new member. I just bought a used 2005 Sea Doo Challenger 180. I was looking under the boat the other day and noticed a seal on the shaft that should have been on the back of the impeller was damaged and dangling on the shaft. I ordered the part and got a wear ring as well since I could see there was a little bit of wear on it and since I had to take the thing apart anyways, I might as well replace that too.

I have the reverse cable and steering cable disconnected, the 4 large bolts and the 4 smaller bolts which have the hex heads removed as well. The whole thing is loose but when I pull on it, I can't seem to get it out. I am not sure if I am supposed to take off the cone in front of the impeller or anything else.

Should this just pull out and should the whole shaft come with it? Does anyone have any suggestions? Attached are some pictures.

Thank you.

I just realized this is in the PWC forum and not the jet boat forum. Sorry about that.

Hi jsnip,

It should come off now without removing any more parts. It may take a bit of wiggling back and forth to come free. The drive shaft should remain in place in the boat as the carbon seal and ring will be holding it in place.

It looks like you have broken a couple of the bolts between the Venturi and the Jet Pump Housing, they will need to be replaced.

I anchored my GTX 155 with very stuck pump onto its trailer...attached to the truck. I removed the venturi and used two bolts holes to attach a piece of thick bar stock. Then i wrapped chair around bar stock and chained that to a solid immovable object (One of the poles holding my house up in the air...thanks Sandy!). Anyhow, i pulled it off with my truck and a chain. I made sure the chain was centered and pulled nice and easy. Popped off nice. Unfortunately my pump was so corroded I opted for a new housing and a fresh rebuild vs fixing the old one.
