Look under the ski at the impeller. Check the clearance between the impellar and the wear ring. .040 is the max you want. You could've sucked up a rock or some type of debris through the impeller to ruin it!

whats a bad wear ring look like, how did it happen allof a sudden

It is hard to see a bad wear ring unless it is blatantly obvious. Case in point, just did one on my ski.....looked fine from up inside the jet pump and from a clearance perspective. Had a few scratches, nothing major, but could just barely see a spot behind one of the impeller blades that looked off like part was missing, pulled it all down and there were chunks removed from the original seadoo wear ring surface which is black plastic. You could see the white plastic/fiberglass resin material beneath that. So, I pulled it all down and tore it apart and replaced it. I was on the original wear ring at 290 hours and honestly it was in good shape for those hours, BUT, I def. have seen a gain from throttling up from a stop. No top end difference but you won't see top end changes really. Depending on age and hours and whether you beach it alot or ride in shallow water, it probably needs to be done.

I replaced mine a couple months ago. I crawled underneath and looked in through the grate where it pulls in the water and I could see big chunks missing. Before I replaced the wear ring it ran fine in straight shots, but if I did a 360 or anything like that it would just sit and cavitate for a minute or so.
