Just an FYI. When they went from the square nose, to the newer round nose design... the lower hull remained the same since it' performed better than any other stand up ski out there.
Over the years, they had a 650, 701, and an 800 engine in them. A 701 square nose will run you about $1500 in very good condition. (1993 till about 97) and a 650 will run you about $1k. The round nose hulls are more expensive because more people want them... but the 701 round nose is only a cosmetic change.
And thanks on the old Doo. I picked it up cheap, and restored it. I have a whopping $365 into it. :hurray: And honestly... the old seadoo's are a lot of fun. They are light, and manuverable... but it's a very wet ride, and really, they are a one person craft. It's work to get 2 adults on it, and unless your balance is perfect... re-boarding in deep water with 2 people is dam near impossible.
Awesome setup....totally agree on the old seadoo's being a blast. Started out with a '89 Kawasaki 440 and we'd ride that ski 8-hours a day on 8-gallons of fuel. She never broke down and my knees fell apart before she she gave out on me.
Eventually graduated to a 550, SuperJet 650 (round nose) and then a 750. Now, fat and 40+ and ride the 3D and a '96 XP. But in a serious search for another standup.
