howdy all

oz from sydney here .. these boat are very rare here and not easy to find a cheap one.

i am looking to buy one from a dude who tells me hes getting oil in the coolant. its runs well but oil seems to weep into the coolant.
so far he has had the seal of the water pump replaced and new head gasket and had the head shaved but still not 100%

hes has concluded it will need a used engine .. so hes reducing the price drastically.

my question is .. do you think this issue is a engine replacement issue ? hes in country area so doesnt really have access to good expertise and if i get it to sydney maybe i have a better chance ??

Agreed. Remove the two coolant lines on it and pressurize it with 5 to 10 psi. Should hold indefinitely. I accidentally let one freeze a long time ago when i was testing hardware for my conversion. You probably have coolant in your oil as well, which is far more nafarious. You will have a tough time getting it all out. It'll take you at least 3 oil changes, so save that used motor oil to soak up the milky mess that is your oil, then do one final oil and filter change. Btw, water collapses and degrades those filters...

the only other thing it could be (unless you have a head gasket leak) is a water pump leak at the waterpump shaft. If I'm not mistaken, the WP is driven by a gear inside the mag housing. There is a seal around the WP impeller shaft that can occassionally go bad. Better hope it's not that, as that is a complete PITA to fix. You must remove the engine and pull off that whole MAG cover.

Could also be a pto housing gasket. There are several places it could be but very unlikely it has a casting problem as the QC on the Austrian made Rotax are top notch. See video of oil and coolant below.
