Does anyone know if you can repair a broken pin on 97 Seadoo XP mpem. it is the no. 2 pin. looks like it is for the VTS. Seadoo keeps dying after you ride it for awhile. Had the carbs rebuilt and gas lines replaced last year when I was having the same symptoms. Took out the mpem, noticed some corrosion and then saw the pin was broken off. Any words of wisdom out there?

I know mpem's are a bit expensive. If it comes down to replacing it, I would rip into the thing and repair it myself. Then trying my best to seal it back up as I reassembled the pieces (mine looks like a one piece completely glued.

Maybe you could put lots of solder on a replacement pin and heat it where it should be in hope sit bridges the gap to the original connection inside (but I would say highly unlikely).

If you have some know how in electronics, you could probably make a work around while still using the same buttons (This is what I would do before ripping apart the mpem).

But, that being said, I would confirm the broken connection is your vts and first focus on the seadoo dying before the VTS accessory.

There was a lot of corrosion on the other pins when I removed the mpem. I am going to reinstall the thing today and see if it will start and keep running.

I should have asked the question in original post, but a bad pin for vts should not cause jetski to Die! Would you agree with that?

Greatly appreciate your feedback.

Nope but that corrosion in there could have made it to the circuit board and there could be things you can't see..
I have two of those mpem's on the bench right now trying to rip them apart. So far it looks like the potting on the back comes off ok but its easy to scratch the circuit board because of how soft it is in some spots. Plastic pokey tools are a must.

Which pin's are bad or corroded ?

Ok, connector #1 pin 2

That is indeed The center for the vts switch which simply is connected to pin 7 inside the mpem, You could connect the wire going to pin 2 to the wire going to pin 7 and accomplish the same thing. kind of like the way it was in 96.

With just that pin broken all that would mean is that you wouldn't be able to trim up or down.
The fact that its shutting off is leading me to believe damage was done to to pin's 7, 8 or 15, Those are the pin's for the DESS post.

Wow... appreciate the input. Got it all cleaned and dried out, put it back together and started right up. Seems to be running great, at least on dry land! Will have to try it out on the lake and if all goes well I will try your advise on rewiring pin 2.
Cheers!
