Bought New Seadoo...Need Help

Hello everybody

New to this Forum and New with Seadoos.

Just bought a 1995 SP. It had been sitting undriven for two years. What kind of maintenance is required before heading out to the lake?

I changed the spark plugs and put in a new battery. There already was some oil in the tank, I just topped it up. I tried turning it on in my driveway and it turned on the first crank. It did smoke quite a bit though.

Any other crucial thing I should do before using it?

Also, the previous owner told me to put a bit of oil in the gas tank every time I filled gas. But I do see that there is a seperate tank for oil and it is full. Shouldn't it automatically mix itself?

New here so need beginners help.

Some people like a little extra oil in the fuel as a safe guard. If the oil injection is working... it's not needed.

Before I would take it out... I would check the oil in the jet pump, and the driveshaft seal. (under the gray cover behind the engine) Since it's a 95... the seal will need a squirt of grease.

The jet pump oil should be clean and clear. If it's dark or milky... the pump may need serviced. (75w-90 gear lube is what it needs)
