Bought a used 1996 seadoo xp
Seems it had been tipped over. Ok fine. I bought the ski on a Shore lander trailer for $200.00

Yes .. $200.00

Put in a fresh battery to see what's up..
DESS beeped twice as per usual. The rear electrical box was full of water and rust. Replaced with a working box with the correct fuses ( 7.5 & 15 amp )

Ok, now the motor has water in the cylinders. Got water removed finally. Lubricated the cylinders with fogging oil. Let it sit all night. I did a compression test today. Got 150-160 on each cylinder, however I forgot to hold the throttle wide open. Now, I can't get 3 good batteries to crank it over, all charged to 12.9 volts.

There's no way I have 3 bad batteries.

HELP!!

If the boat was under water, you could still have some inside the engine. Also, if any of the sensitive electronics had gotten wet and stayed that way for any amount of time, they could be shot.

My latest purchase was a 2004 Jeep with a bad pcm. Pcm was surrounded in leaves and they held water around the seals to the pcm. Eventually water got in there a wreaked havoc on the chips and such. I also paid $200 for my Jeep. Maybe there is a coincidence?

So start checking for water in engine and more water in the elctronics maybe....could test for voltage/current at starter motor first. If it is getting power, you may be hydrolocked.

Electronics all checkout good. MPEM has no apparent damage and I don't see any water damage throughout the ski, just was in the rear electrical box and cylinders, but these issues have been cleared up. Motor is not puking water or anything any longer.
I fired up once already.

Your crankshaft is shot. You need to tear down the engine.
If water sits more than a day it rusts the bearings.
Can you turn the engine over by hand? It's probably locked up.

Are you sure the engine sat with water in it and if so how long?

As far as the starter. Check all cables and connections are clean. If all that checks out and jumping the solenoid doesn't work the starter is bad.

I'm not sure, the kid said it sat and rain got in it. I doubt it though. It doesn't have the usual signs of a rollover at the lake.

I probably have a battery or starter issue. All electrical components are good.

Yes, it had water in the cylinders. I have since cleared it out and fogged them for lubrication. Since I am apparently not allowed to upload photos, the compression on each was 150-160 psi respectively.

So the problem is if there is water in the cylinders there is water in the crankcase. This will and already had rusted the crank and counter balancer bearings. It might turn over now but if you get it running this rust acts like sand paper on the bearings. The end result is the crank or balancer will blow out the cases.
Sorry but it's the truth.
