Bogging and won't make top speed.... Need some help!

I just checked the accell pump, it fired up.. Warmed up.. Shut it off.. Pressed the throttle 30 times... It was hard to start with just pushing the button, I had to hit the throttle a bit.

Cool. It doesn't look like an air leak and seems like the accell pump is doing something.

How far below the intake port was the rotary valve when you finished aligning it?

Supposed to be close to half an inch, Well 0.40" or 10mm below the intake port. (just tried on a spare engine to see. It actually lined up with a scribed line on the rotary valve surface.) Could be one tooth off if its closser to 1/4 inch.
But that's something else and would only contribute a little to this problem. I was wondering if you were really close to the port.

When you get it up in the rpm's do you have to keep the choke on or can you let it go and stay in the high rpm's with the throttle?

Also, if you give the throttle 3-4 shots (to try and flood the engine using the accel pump) can you get it to respond at all to throttle for a second without using the choke?

If its a low end problem, as in pilot/pop off/acell pump, not contributing at all, using the choke would make the main jet kick in and that's what your running on.

Since it does run on top end, that mean's there is fuel in the float chamber that the main jet is pulling from. I wonder if maybe there is still something stuck in the pilot circuit.

I just trimmed my wires back a 1/2" .. So I guess I'll start doing all the other maintenance while I'm at it. I need to get new jets. But I don't know where to get them.

So you guys are still at it. Sorry to hear that man. I ended up taking it to the shop 3 different times. Ended up being that the gasket in the fuel filter/ water separator got missing and the fuel intake hose was loose and that is were I was losing fuel pressure. Took it out today and ran so good I thought something else was wrong, nope it was just running like it was always supposed too. My problem was an air leak in the system, I hope you figure out yours man.

I checked all my fuel line connections, I blew into the one vent to put pressure in the tank, it's holding pressure so looks like I don't have a leak their. I'm ordering some new jets and needle valve and seat. I'm trying to fix what I have instead of buying a new carb

Pressurizing the tank wont tell you if there is an air leak between the tank and carburator. Your only going to see major air leaks. To see if there is a leak you would need to purge all the fuel out of the fuel lines from the fuel sender to the carb.Basically the 3-4 psi your putting into the tank cant force the fuel out of a leak well enough. Its juat not enough pressure. But purge that fuel out an you'll see more of a leak or drop in pressure. The tank also has to be empty so your not forcing fuel back in the lines. Any more pressure in the tank might pop.

Gotcha, I wasn't trying to see the leaks it's was more to see if it would hold. But I just ordered a whole new carb. I figured why not! It will be here Monday. Worst case is if it still is happening after the new carb come I know it's not the carb lol

Quick update.... Carb was suppose to be delivered today,,, well... They called and said that they don't have any more in stock so they refunded my money.. Now I'm hunting for a place that sells carbs.

Well I talked to a bunch of places and apparently carbs are out of stock till next month sometime. So I got some new jets and needle valve n seat. Should be here Friday

Just a small update.. I started on some other project.. Mats and seat cover. Kinda needed a bit of a break from the disappointments. The black tip mats came out great! Working on stretching the seat cover now. image.jpg

One day it will run normal again... Not giving up yet!

Very nice ski and projects. I have basically the same ski just orange and purple being an 03'. Brand new carb from OSD cured all my bog issues.

**update**

I got a new accell pump/parts in finally to just replace. New jets(again) (80/167.50) ... well I don't think any of that mattered... I pulled the two small lines for the in and out from the accell pump, one of them has a small piece of metal in it. It almost looked like one of the brass parts broke off, but none did, then I looked at it, it's a small jet, from where... hell I have no idea!. Relaxed all those lines.. put all back together, AND RUNS GREAT! Now two of my plugs on the pipe are leaky lol

That little brass piece in the accelerator pump line needs to be there. It is a restrictor jet and won't work correctly without it.

Even with it starving for fuel? I took it out and runs great now. Should I put it back in?

Yes.
That pump steals fuel from the fuel chamber. So if you hit the throttle too many times in a row you could suck all the fuel out of the fuel chamber and then it bogs out.

Its there to slow down the rate that fuel is stolen from the fuel chamber to a rate that the pump can keep up with mainly.
It could be running great now because your taking so much fuel with each shot that the diaphram is always depressed a little and your getting more fuel flow than normal. Which could also just be masking your actual problem.

Input line. From carb to pump.
Make sure that line doesnt leak as well. That will also cause a bog.

Well.......did you get it running? Im having same issues!! And someone spoke of a secondary fuel filter. Are you putting it just before the carb?
