Hopefully im posting this in the right section.

Recently I was getting my boats running after sitting about 3 years. I got the XP running, but after reinstalling the battery i was left with an extra wire along with the positive and negative cables. I took a chance and hooked it up to the positive side. Now the motor doesnt even try to turn over.

I believe i might have hooked a hot wire up to my CDI's ground wire or something and shorted the thing out.

Any body have any experience with this sorta thing?

Yes, that’s the ground for the rear electric box and is why it’s short and black. Not sure how you got it to reach to the rear positive battery terminal.

You need to check all the fuses in the front and rear electrical boxes.

Ew... im guessing this is the ignition coil?

Didnt see where the fuses were located, but i do have a book and will try and track them down.

So, i bought a new coil. Im waiting for it to come in the mail to install.

How likely is it that other systems are burnt out to?

Also, where are the fuses to check? I read that there are some inside the mpem can i open it up to check their condition?

Also it was mentioned some fuses in the front?

It'll be at least a week before i install the new coil, but i will post after the install.
