I have a 96 GSX that I bought used about 3 weeks ago. At the time I gave it a good once over started it up and run it dry for about 30 seconds and was happy with the way it run. It did seem to be a little "cold natured" but no big concern. The owner had a receipt where the ski had been serviced and a new exhaust gasket installed. I called the shop and the said the compression was good and it was ready to go to the lake...So I bought it.
I took the ski to the lake and it wouldn't start I only turned to over a few times and the battery seemed weak. I took it home and charged the battery and went back to the lake the next weekend. It started once and then no luck after that. It seemed to be flooding and the gas didn't smell right. I assumed bad gas (the owner did say it had been a year since it was on the water) I drained the tank and refilled. Cleaning the seperator along the way and it fired right up out of the water. Back to the lake I go...The ski Fired right up and across the lake I went running about 6000+ rpm and then it dropped to below 5000. I drove it back and loaded it up I pulled the trailer up and fired the ski and the RPM came back. I did a quick check on everything and it seemed fine. I backed the Ski back in the water no start again.
The store is the back side of the back jug is blown out and busted. I plan on replacing the both jugs and both pistons basically the whole top end. Is their any major road blocks I need to know of? Everything seems to be straight forward...
