Bilge pump and check valve

I have been troubleshooting some water in my bilge and have discovered there is no check valve in my bilge pump of my 2011 speedster. So if you do donuts to the right, you put the discharge port under water and take on water.

Should the bilge pump not have a backflow or check valve?
