So, I was hoping to get through all of this without any questions, but here is the first.

I have a speedster 200 with twin rotax. battery isolator that is a RV/Marine. It has 4 posts. A - for Alternator, 1-battery #1, 2-Battery #2 and E - ????

I am not sure what E does, but in the instructions it shows that i can ignore it. So to my question.

I started both engines and am not getting any voltage from the stators through the isolator or on the stator side.

Any help would be great!

Thanks,

more testing and still confused

maybe i need to ask it a different way....

I disconnected the wire coming from the stator to the starter relay (switch). I start the engine and read the voltage across negative from the battery to the disconnected stator. I am reading 0.95V. If i hook it up back normal, and start the engine, i am getting 13.8V. And with the engine off, I am getting 12.6V.

So i know the stator is working. Just confused about HOW it is working so that i can modify it. Does it adjust its voltage output according to the voltage from the battery?

This could be some advanced stuff here!!!

OK, so i figured it out. Just little research, testing, troubleshooting and some knowledge skills. Stators (generators) are similar to the large generators at a power plant. The magnets need to be energized (excited) for them to get the magnetic field going until they can perform this on their own. So basically it has to have a 12V (+) charge provided to it before it will start working.

Thanks for reading! If you need info on this stator stuff, then i am more knowledgable than i ever thought i would be!
