Just to let you guys know, your battery maintainer can boil your battery dry! Bought a new Yuasa battery and battery maintainer last August, and the maintainer indicator light would show charging when pluged in after a ride. It would eventually show charged after a few hours. (Stored battery indoors over the winter) The battery for the first half of this season when plugged into the maintainer would show it charging and after a few hours would show charged as expected, but then began to notice maintainer was still charging the following day. At first I didn't think this was a problem, but turned out it was. Boiled my battery dry! So the lesson here is if you notice your maintainer is still charging after an extended period of time, something might be wrong with your maintainer. Not to be mistaken, this could also be the cause of a faulty rectifyer.

consider a sealed AGM battery if you haven't.. acid batteries are worthless on ski's IMO
never heard of that charger,
I used the Battery Tender Jr for years, no issues, $25 on ebay or batteries+ stores.
upgraded to Optimate 4 a few months back, its like a Jr. on Steriods. $65ish

What brand was the "Maintainer"? I know I've pitched a few of the no-name (and harbor freight) versions in the trash. I've never had an issue with "Battery-Tender" brand chargers. But then again... I don't leave them on all winter long. I put them on for a couple days... and then it gets moved to a different toy.

My battery maintainer is a 1.5amp Schumacher Speed Charge Maintainer only 2 years old and never left in the sun or rain. I leave it pluged in during the season then bring the battery indoors for winter with no maintainer plugged in. Tried hooking up my buddy's maintainer which is the same brand but earlier model and indicates charged but when plugged mine in indicates charging, maybe the float is bad.
