OK here is the deal. I have 2 2003 GTI's. I had a bad battery that was overcharged and when I attached it to a jet-ski it did something. Stupid me switched the batteries and I did the same thing to the other. So I started trouble shooting and found that in the back electrical box I could not get the relay to activate to give power to the system. So I bypassed it and it worked. I did the same to the other and it worked too. I ordered new relays at a cost of $72.00 each and attached one and it did not work. I traced the black/purple wire back to the dress switch and it is all fine. So I think it is the MPEM. My question is do you think the MPEM is bad or could it be something else? I have checked all the fuses and they are good. I see no burn marks on the MPEM. What else can I check? You think I am messing things up by bypassing the relay and making my system work?
