Hey guys,

Got a 97 SeaDoo Sportster 2 stroke and just got it in the water for the first few times this week. I am the new owner to the boat. I noticed that when I shove down on the throttle the boat will no really lift up out of the water and take off. It seems as though it just stays in a lower gear so to speak. If I slowly move the throttle stick up and really give it time to get going then about 90% of the time it will lift up in the front end and take off at full speed.
Just would like to know if anyone has any info or ideas. PLEASE would appreciate the help. Thanks !

Sometimes it will get plane and then just not take off and continue full speed, while the revs are putting out as they should. Is it something in my throttle cables? I can not punch it and go. Anyone have any idea as to why the throttle right to the floor will not get the boat going at top speed, but instead just moves along at a slower speed.

do a search for cavitating. It may be sucking air through somewhere if you gas and no go but hear like a stumble.
Although I feather the throttles up to allow pumps to load up and expel the water through the nozzle.
If I gun it out of the hole from a stop it does take a sec or two longer b/c two stroke motors have no torque.
Best power when engines are rev'ing.
Hope that helps.

You should go through entire boat checking for stuff. Become a member to have access to manuals or get it online.
That will be your saving grace for answers .

oh btw you dont need to start two threads on similar subject. Moderators may just close one...

So you think that there may be somethings up in the intake and impeller? If I pull the lever under my steering wheel for the weeds, you think that i can clean out under there and that could open it up. possibly casue clogging and that is why i am getting my engine speed being high but the boat moving slowly?

no, if you accelerate and boat goes no where or no where slowly then you are cavitating.
If you have to feather the throttles up w/o mashing it forward and it goes, then it should be okay but inspect the impeller/wear ring/carbon seals for wear.
