Are these oil lines empty?

Hey everyone,

noticed a little bit of oil at the bottom of the hull, which makes me nervous that the engine might not be getting oil. Oil seems to be coming from the bottom of the oil tank by the looks of things. But as i was looking through things are these lines (attached) empty ? Or do they always look to be this color ? The oil im using is what seadoo recommends xps 2 stroke synthetic (i buy it at local dealer) its red in color. But those lines dont look to be red which makes me nervous. Anyone able to advise if these lines look empty by the pics ?

Hard to tell from the pictures AND those are the original oil lines (judging by the factory paint still on them) - WHICH you should replace anyway using 3/32" TYGON tubing (yellow)......

Oil in the hull usually gets there either from a crack in the oil tank seam (somewhere) OR the bottom tank grommet is loosing it's seal to the tank itself or WORST case scenario the oil line to the engine bottom (almost impossible to reach is cracked/leaking - hopefully not).

Reach under the grommet and see if the bottom of the grommet is greasy, the oil will run down the line and drip into the hull (if it's the grommet). You gotta remember, these skis bounce around a lot and things do loosen up over time.

looking at things closer you might be right regarding the oil tank seams leaking. My main concern is i cant tell if there is oil in those small lines. I was planning to go ride tomorrow and i can’t tell, which makes me nervous.

If it were me I would change those lines now before riding it that way you can bleed them and know for sure that there’s oil.
Maybe a 30 minute job if you take your time.

I actually have brand new OEM seadoo oil lines, im just extremely nervous of this job, as im unsure how to bleed all the oil system. I rebuilt carbs with a proper mikuni kit and that was no issue. But these oil lines confuse me lol.

To bleed them all you do is hold the oil pump lever wide open with the engine idling. You will see the oil start to inch it's way in the tubes, once it reaches the intake manifold you are done. At idle the ski requires basically no oil and there will always be some residual in the cases so nothing to worry about.

Okay so, wouldn’t be a good idea to take it out on the lake tomorrow i guess then :/ , looks like it would be a good idea to change the oil tank as well so it stops leaking. I dont see a leak from those lines tbh but they are not red in color like the oil color, which is why it had me concerned

I also noticed what might be sludge of some sort with fuel that could be leaking from what looks like to be the pulse line. I could have sworn i cleaned everything when i rebuilt the carb and reassembled, i should note this was right after i took off the carbs. Could have leaked something near there?

The sludge,,,probably mstches the colour of your oil,,,at that fitting,,,which gets pulse from crank case,,the mixture of gas and oil,,,will leak into the hull,,,my guess is that the hose/ fitting is leaking.,,its not unusual for that hose or the rav valve pulse line beside it to get a crack and leak case mixture into the hull...

My oil is red xps 2t full synthetic from seadoo dealer. The sludge is greenish in color. The hose is brand new i replaced every fuel and vent line in the ski. Which is why im concerned. I guess ill run it tomorrow and see if anything sticks out. Its just weird to me that its leaking greenish sludge when carbs have been rebuilt bu myself with mikuni kit from OSD and the whole fuel system as well.

We recommend changing them any time they have the paint on them. The painted lines are original and for how small those lines are, they are often brittle at this point and can crack or come loose from the vibrations on the water.
To me, the inconvenience of changing the lines is very minimal - especially compared to the inconvenience of an engine rebuild if one of those lines cracks on the water.

Changed the he oil lines just to be safe and the rubber grommet on the bottom of the tank. All is good in that aspect now ! Thanks!!

Regarding this , i looked back at my old videos i did not clean this fitting, before attaching new line. Doubt its going to be an issue
