Took the boat out yesterday and got severe cavitation on the way back in. My boat would not come up on plane and I could just feel the vibration coming from the under the boat which I assume was cavitation. Plowed through the water back in at 12mph. Engine runs fine revs up perfectly. Only me and my wife onboard. I have searched on here and saw to check wear ring. I looked into pump and saw that the impeller is cutting into the ring there are large slices of plastic cut off. The guy I bought the boat from said he had recently replaced the ring himself. My question is did he do something wrong or are my pump bearings bad causing the impleller to spin slightly into the wear ring.
