Last year while sitting on my ski I noticed I'm taking on water because my bilge pump would turn on... Now today I went to the ramp and put my 05 RXP in the water and looked around inside andThis little sucker was leaking at the hole in the middle of the 90 deg. The other side was not leaking from the hole.

Thoughts please.... Now another question.... When I sit on my ski for a period.... There seems to be a good amount of water in the hull...but I'm not taking water over the sides of the ski as it is very flat day on the water... How many other areas could the water be comming from???

Thanks, Slug-O

replace the 90* with a plastic one from hardware store. As for water taking on, check the carbon ring area for rips, cracks, chips. Also, does the feet area have riveted hydroturf, if so, water can get thru those too.

Hardware store...10-4... As for the mats... There glued down...As for the carbon ring??? I dont know where or what to look for??

I had water in my hull and everyone (from the forums) told me this is normal. Then one day I launched the ski, popped the seat and spotted water coming in where the drive shaft enters the hull. Took it out and returned it back to the dealer. They replaced the O ring that seals the drive shaft to the hull. They said theses seals fail all the time. Since then my hull has been dry. Have a look in this area when you first put it in the water.

The carbon ring is a ring of carbon held by the rubber bellows where the drive shaft goes thru the hull. The bellows push the carbon ring against a ss ring mounted to the shaft, sealing the hull effectively against water intrusion there.

If their is damage to the carbon ring, or the bellows isn't holding it tightly enough against the ss ring on the shaft, then it can leak. Also, the ss ring on the shaft that the carbon ring is pushed against has an o-ring (or 2 or 3, I can't recall exactly) inside it against the shaft. If any of them have been damaged, it can leak water into the hull as well. A clip holds the ss ring in place on the drive shaft. The clip is hidden under the ss ring (it takes alot of prying pressure on the ss ring to expost the clip that locks it in place to push that clip off the shaft so you can remove the shaft if necessary).

You're going to have to look in their very carefully (I suggest using a strong flashlight or spotlight to illuminate the area) while the PWC is in the water and see if you can see any water coming in in that area under and around the bellows.

ps. The bellows should be pushing the carbon ring against the ss ring on the shaft quite strongly... if you can easily pull it back by hand, something's wrong there! Also if there is a problem here, the pump will suck air thru there when you hard accellerate.... you should be able to feel the pump cavetating really badly when you hit the throttle. If the water isn't coming from this area were the driveshaft enters the hull, then you must have a water line somewhere leaking in there.
