help, 1999 gtx limited, rebuilt n46 dual ,carbs set high at 0 and low 1 3/4, new spark plugs, clean and inspected raves. Problem: 0 to full throttle engine bogs and dies if feather and apply choke at variable amounts engine will run at max rpm. engine will run up to 2800 rpm and sputter any more throttle will bog and kill the motor. all hoses have been replaced on the carbs but original grey hoses to fuel tank. Accelerator not change but appears to pump fuel at the injection point in the carb all other parts new in carb. I have even taken the carbs off a second time to inspect the high jets for any clogs, no clogs.

If it runs with the choke, then it's running lean because your carbs are clogged.
Take them apart and give them another cleaning. I'd guess something is still stuck in there.

Took carbs off a third time to clean and confirmed filters, 3 check valves, and blew compressed air in all cavities and pushed a wire through all cavities to confirm no clogs visible. Still dies when I go to wot but if I go to 3/4 choke and feather I can max the rpms out.

My specs are as follows: 1999 seadoo GTX Limited, 947cc ,dual carb BN46, carbs adjusted to 1 1/2 low and 0 high, the pto and mag are adjusted to open in-sink with the throttles( in-fact they were actually never touched from the rebuild adjustment were in-sink and did not require any adjustments. Work completed to date: Carbs have been rebuilt with all new seals, springs, check valves, diaphragms and new accelerator pump. Both rave valves have been inspected and cleaned. All grey hoses have been replaced, selector valve clean and working, pulled out the fuel pick up baffle and inspected and cleaned filter at bottom, clean fuel filter. still having the same problem, engines dies at wot in water and on a lift in water.

Question 1: What could be my problem?

Question2: When I apply 3/4 choke and feather I get full rpm, could it be the full suction problem, but everything is new?

Question 3: When I replace 2 of the 1/2 diameter check valves they were black in color and showed no signs of top or bottom but they appear to seat well, could this be my error?

Question 4: I'm not sure if the gas is bad but since the rpms run up with choke could the gas be causing my problem?

HELP

I'm sure one of the other guys like Timmyboy76 that know these motors like the back of their hand will chime in, but until then I can tell you you still have a lean condition. It's possible that you still have a restriction somewhere in the fuel path, but it sounds like you've covered that pretty thoroughly. More likely at this point what you have is an air leak around the carbs or the lines.

With the engine running on the hose you can try to spray around the carbs, intake, and fittings to see if you can find a leak. Just be sure to use a small amount, an use some caution so you don't start a fire by soaking everything in carb cleaner.

???

:agree:, but with a lean condition, wouldn't you check the oil path instead of the fuel path. since lean = not enough oil. correct me if i am wrong, but i would check spark plugs to be burnt if you are running lean. if you are running lean check to see if you have pressure in the oil line, and unobstructed oil lines. just a thought.

springs...

got me think'n,. you replace the "spring" in n/s assy. Even though, they were replaced with the same "size", they AINT the same "gram weight", of pressure. Sounds like the new springs, aint "pop'n".

The plugs are light brown all over after running the engine at wot with choke applied and pull the shut off.

yeah, once you pull the choke, it allows the pressure to build, andf "pop" the n/s assy. I dont care, keep pull'n the choke, if you can deal with it.

Tested pop off at 21psi it opened. My specs showed 19 to 23 psi. Engine still dies at wot but runs good at idle and starts great. Any ideas out there?
