alarm sound and will not run past 5000rpm

I have a 2004 seadoo sporster le (fuel inj). I put about 10 hrs on it this year without any problems. Now I get an alarm beep about every 30 second to 1 minute and it will not rev. past 5000 rpm. I change the plugs, oil is full. I don't see anything obstructing the impeller.

Anyone have suggestions?

Welcome to the forum.

Does it do this only when running for a while? Sounds like an overheating alarm really. Check out and flush your cooling system and make sure it flows out properly. If it does flow strongly, then you might have a defective thermostat (or bad wiring to/from thermostat).
