Hi all
Ive got air bubbles in my oil lines. ive tried to bleed them but i can't get the air bubbles out !
any1 got and ideas?

Tom,
Empty out the oil on the tank. Pull the oil line off the pump coming from the tank. Fill the tank back up and let oil fill the main hose and quickly put your finger over the end of the hose. Put the hose back on quickly trying not to spill any oil. Without engine running, place a rag under oil pump and open bleeder screw on oil pump. Let the oil seep out until you see no more air bubbles.
When you are sure the air is out, run the ski on the hose while holding oil pump lever in full open position without giving it throttle. Engine should bogg a little and a little smoke should come out of exhaust.
Only hold it open for a 5 or 10 seconds.

First, we should discuss WHICH OIL LINES?

Are they the big ones, that connect to the bottom middle of the motor?

Or the smaller one that runs through a filter, and down to the carb(s).

If you are talking about the smaller one, then the above is right, but the bigger ones serve another purpose.

Rotary....

Like Nate says, if it's the oil lines coming from the center of the engine, leave them alone, they are o.k........

The oil lines from the injector pump, follow nswillin's advice with bleeding them and running to purge the smaller ones to injection.

When you've established this, you'll also need to check that your oil pump is syncronized to your carbs....

If your not completely sure once you've bleed the lines down, premix 6 gallons of 50:1 oil with the proper oil and run it through one tank of gas.

When you ride on your oil pump alone, make sure you check your plugs for proper operation. There is a link at the bottom of my signature that has pix of what your plugs are suppose to look like...............

Hi guys
thanks for giving me all that advice.
the lines with the air in are the two that leave the pump and go to the carbs.. i think ... (they dissapear in that direction) I will have a go at them tommorow and let you know how it goes!
thanks
tom

Check those lines for cracks, both mine were cracked and leaking oil but I couldn't tell unless I looked close and flexed them, should be little clamps on them.

Hi
seadoosnipe, i tried everything above and nothing seems to of helped other than cover myself and my ski in oil.....
do you think it could be my oil pump itself?
cheers

have you checked the vent/check valve on the oil tank? If it's not working it could be creating a vaccume in the tank and lines.

Injector lines.......

Those small oil lines should not be holding air. They are supplied by oil from the pump and when started, under a constant amount of flow volume. So, if there was a air bubble, it should push out and burp. If it doesn't, that means your oil injection system is open to suck in air somewhere.

Check the restriction of the oil filter. Check the clamps on the inlet oil line to the pump, make sure it's tight.

DCKD...spotted spammer...!

In DCKD's post, he spotted a spammer. We are pretty good about keeping them out of the forum. But as the forum gets bigger, we become an easier target.

In the past, myself, KustomKarl and other members of the staff have spotted them personally and removed them.

You as members have become more active in helping us control and keep them at bay. If you spot a spammer, all you have to do is, click the little triangle at the bottom, left hand side of the post. That's a link that reports that post and it comes directly to our email, so we may spot it faster, with your help.

Thanks for the heads up DCKD..........
