Hello everyone. I'm interested in getting aftermarket handlebars on my 97 XP. Mostly because of the aesthetics that it brings to the ski. But I have a few questions, first of all, why upgrade to aftermarket handlebars? What is the benefit? I see a lot of the professional racing skis have aftermarket handle bars.

How easy is it to convert to aftermarket handlebars? Do you gain more control with aftermarket handlebars? Where do I start as far as buying the right components? Such as maybe a bracket to mount the key and choke. And what about the VTS? I see some people use the stock ones, just mounted. And I'm more interested in using an aftermarket throttle setup where it's mounted in the front. Any help would be appreciated!

Much like what this guy has: http://s43.photobucket.com/user/richevo26/media/Picture001.jpg.html

I'm still figuring that stuff out. I'm reading that I can use aftermarket handle bars with stock parts? I would really just like to see what my options are.

You can use any 3/4" motocross(MX) handlebars. The racer needs wider bars because they stock ones will wear you out quickly around the buoys. The stock ones protect you better though(saves teeth).

If you have a fitted cover the wider bars will make it not fit any longer.

You can search ebay under "Seadoo UMI" to see the billet switch holders and finger throttles.

What's a setup like this really cost? Do people build their own kits to their own liking? It seems like a lot of the ones I've seen are put together.

Just the bars on your stem can still add up.

bars-$50
grips-$20
Trigger throttle-$80
button holder-$80
