So the seat on one of my new (to me) skis is pretty beat up:

I took it to a place today and was quoted $200 to fix up the foam and recover it (single color).

The other seat isn't too bad:

I am wondering if I should just stick with what I get from him, or if I should have him just fix up the foam, and I could get one of the custom Hydro Turf or Blacktip (or other) seat covers and install it myself. (I think I have the tools, but haven't done it before).

Edit: well I guess I'm sort of committed - he said he couldn't just repair the foam with no cover so I'll stick with what I got and maybe get another cover later if the money is still burning a hole in my pocket. :)

Thoughts?

I was just up against the same situation last week on a 96GSX. I went on ebay and found a good looking seat(yellow hump off newer RFI) for about $100 total cost after shipping. I was going to get it a cover but I new that I would feel that missing foam through it.

foam need's repaired and of course recover, $200 is a bit much for single color, ask him for a price where you provide the vinyl and then buy yourself a nice cover, custom covers look sooooo much better.

and for the record, my last cover was blacktip and I was disappointed in the workmanship and the colors were not a good match.

consider jet trim or mline. at least consider it please.
