Adding Oil onto a different oil

lol thanks. Nah no hubby, Which is why I have to learn these things on my own. My dad is very mechanically inclined but not so much when it comes to watercraft. I took it to a local guy, doesn't have a real big establishment but took the time to talk to me about everything.

I've put about 5 hours on it, It seems pretty fast (plenty fast for me, and faster than my friend's yamaha and GTI so I can't complain) but due to dirty fuel and dirty carbs it wasn't quite 100% when I've rode it. I'm excited to get it on the water next weekend now that it will be all tuned up and cleaned out

diggin myself quite a hole here huh LOL.....sorry again about the hubby thing....just assumed but you know where that gets ya....well have a good time on it and like i said post if ya need help

I went ahead and ordered the XPS Oil and filter. Part of me wants to let the mechanic do the oil change but I need to get over it and just take it on myself. My worry comes from the fact that I haven't had much of a chance to look at the motor on my ski since it's been at the mechanics for almost 2 weeks. So I can't see right now where everything is that you guys are talking about, Has me a little nervous. But I think I will just print my manual out and do some visualizing to get a better understanding.

I get my ski back next week, I'm sure I'll be coming back here with some more questions regarding this

Thanks guys!

good choice.....BTW nice sporttrack..those things have quite the look if you know how to dress them up and the ski matches it.....just post when you get it back doing the change is easy

Strizzo, I've got the same issue with a 720, can I get by with just draining the lines and replacing the filter, skipping the pump part?

Thanks!

to be safe, i wouldn't. you need to ensure that there is no air in the lines, or the pump won't be pumping oil. if there is air in the line, the air can compress instead of pushing the oil out into the intake. if you bleed the pump very good, you might be able to get away with hooking the carbs up to a small container of premixed fuel to run on while you prime out the oil lines. OR, you could put a small amount of premix fuel in the empty fuel tank (like 1/2 gallon or less) to run on while priming the squirter lines, then after you're done, you fill the rest of the tank with fuel to dilute down the oil. any time you run without premix while priming the oil lines, you run the risk of oil starving the engine and damaging it. a little of extra effort now can save a lot of headache and heartache later on down the road.

As an experiment, not scientific, I mixed XPS oil and QS - both fully synthetic obviously... Equal amounts of both in a 1 quart XPS oil bottle. It's been 2 weeks and I observe no signs of the gel effect Seadoo and the dealers have warned of. I see no reason why you can't mix some - I am switching from XPS to QS.

I could see that, as far as mixing fully synthetic, But I would be mixing full synthetic XPS with a TC-W3 blend oil so I can see how that might cause an issue

I walked into my local Motorsports store yesterday (have never been in there) They sell seadoos but they also sell Yamahas and Kawas so they're not really a "Seadoo Dealer" but low and behold they had the XPS right there on the shelf. 46.95 a gallon

Now I know if I ever need it in a pinch I can get it there, Otherwise I'll just keep ordering it online since it's the same price and free shipping at the ebay link that was posted on here and saves me the 20 minute drive

So I then went into my west marine store today to pick up some dock line, I was curious and went into the oil section and a salesman came up and asked if he could help me out. Out of curiosity of his answer I asked him what oil I should get for my doo, He then picked out the same "ultra TC-W3" oil the guy that owned it before me had been running in it

I'm glad I checked here and got the right oil instead of just listening to the locals
