I was trying to diagnose a slow struggled starting problem. Battery, solenoid or switch issue. As I was trying different things to determine the problem, I accidentally hooked the battery up backwards. I believe I even turned the gauges on and tried to start it. The gauges came on but wouldn't turn over. I eventually noticed what I did and then hooked it up properly, and it fired up. I never let it run long at all. When I did put it in the water again, it started but was running really rough and was essentially going into limp mode right away. Check engine light comes on and P16C1 ECM code comes on. I'm hoping the ECM isn't fried. All the fuses appear to be good.

Please help

From what I've found on the internet, P16C1 is an ECU fault. It appears you need to replace it. The fault chart of from a 2014 Spark manual (ECM instead of ECU).
