Hey everybody,

Just about to get the 99 speedster SK out on the water. I've rebuilt the carbs new fuel pumps. Tomorrow I plan to drain the oil tank lines and replace the filters and 3/32 lines on each motor then fill with XPS. Is it ok to use ty-raps on the small oil lines or do I need to save and recrimp the metal shells. Since I've rebuilt the carbs and I'll be firing out of the water with a hose initially, what order should I:

bleed oil pump (first)
Adjust throttle cable
adjust oil pump cable
hold oil pump open to bleed tiny oil line
set lowspeed adjuster
set idle (in water?)

Pretty sure the order I listed is the order I should proceed. Any tips or advice?

Yes cable ties are ok. Pay close attention to the ones on the pump so that they don't interfere with the operation.

Hopefully you didn't mess with the idle screw on the carbs. If you disconnect the cables and remove the 2 screws from the mount you can literally just put the stuff back on and your ready to rock n roll.

Set the carbs up to spec on the bench. I've rebuilt numerous carbs like this and have never had to tweak when I hit the water.

Replace the lines, gravity bleed the pump, don't remove the screw all the way, there is a small copper sealing washer. You will lose it if you remove the screw.

Pour some xps thru the carbs, start the engine, hold the pump wide open with your hand, watch the lines fill.

Your idle should be 3k out of water and you want that set before you align the oil pump.

I always just pre mix the first tank of gas at 40:1 on a fresh rebuild so I'm covered in any oil issues. It's great peace of mind if this is your first time setting everything up. It's 1 gallon of xps to 40 gallons of gas. Your boat has a 40 gallon tank.

Thanks racerxxx!

Glad I didn't touch the idle screws and took puictures of the cable adjuster threads.

I have a gallon of the oil I drained, could I just premix that in a full tank?
