99 xp all beeps say ok but no start or spark.

Hi guys.
I've read every post about the no start issues with these and tried everything.

Got this from a friend who ran it in his driveway then took to the ramp and dead!!

Here's what I know now.
Battery 12.5 volts
All fuses good.
Plug DESS in and two beeps.
VTS works/ gauge moves.
Pull DESS VTS works for 25 seconds.
Pull DESS, push start/ stop 5 times. Get one short and one long tone.
Good ground to stator cover.
Cross starter solenoid, motor turns over. (no spark)
Tried start/ stop then DESS to reset MPEM.
No power coming out of MPEM on yellow/ red to solenoid. ( pin #13 in plug #3)


All the beeps say it's good to go on MPEM.

Harness has no corrosion in pin connectors.

FOUND IT!!!! :thumbsup:

Checked output wire to solenoid one more time (yellow / red stripe) on plug #3. Nothing at first THEN while pushing harder with test light into wire at plug while holding start switch, the light flickered!!
Moved wire back and forth and starter engaged and spark was present on Gap tester!!!
It looks like the starter and coil wires are all in a row on the plug. No corrosion present. Appears female pin in plug not making contact with male pin. Cleaned everything again and still have to move wires around to make contact.

Going to replace this harness and should be good to go.
If needed, I can replace the pins.

Hope this helps anyone else with similar problems.
