99 spx vts button on handlebar

can i install button without removing housing ? can i install from the top without removing anything?just the button and not the switch

You can remove the rubber cover that you can see without doing anything but to actually remove the switch under it you have to remove the grip and the housing.

There is also a little plastic rod that has to be removed from the rubber part and installed into the new rubber "VTS" button.
