Working on my daughter's new to her and me jet ski.

This has been in a shed for 15 years and not ran. The motor is not locked up nor the pump drive. The previous owner had already change the gray hose on it but after sitting so long I doing it again to avoid problems.

I started my list of maintenance items and while waiting on more parts I am doing all the fuel and oil lines.

Is the fuel pump marked for return, reserve on the pump? The previous owner bypassed the fuel shut off valve. am replacing the valve and water/fuel bowl.
The only line I am 100% on is the vent line coming from pump up to the hull. I am speculating that the fuel line coming from the Tee on mag carb. Is the fuel return to tank. I trying to avoid pulling pump at this time if possible.

Thanks,
Tim

You should be rebuilding the carbs with all new Genuine Mikuni parts including the needles and seats.

Waiting on the kits. I got 2 of these on the way MK-BN46I. Have not found the 2.0 needle and seat for the carbs yet.

Did manage to finally find RES and ON on the pump. Got all new fuel lines cut and installed today. Tomorrow will pull the fuel tank and oil tank to flush them out.

Can someone confirm for me if there is another connection after this check valve #18 or does it just end there for the tank vent.
Does the system incorporate a injection oil return? I not seeing anything for the GTX Limited in service manual just wanting to be sure.

No, there is nothing connected to the vent.
No, there is no return line for the oil injection as it is injected into the engine and burnt during combustion.

mikidymac,

Thanks for confirmation. I just wanted to be sure there was nothing missing in the system. With the fuel shut off being bypassed I would not be surprised if other jerry rigging went on.

A trip to local Sea Doo dealer was a waste of my time today. They stock no part's for 2 stroke Sea Doo's.

Another reason you cannot shop local anymore no one keeps part's in stock.

Can you confirm for me the injection tubing size from pump up to the carbs 3/16 or 3/32. I am going to order some Tygon tubing and new oil filter. Gas tank is out now and been cleaned ready for install. Oil tank is out and been washed and ready for new XPS 2 Stroke Synthetic Oil.

3/32" is the oil line and even Home Depot sells it as small engine fuel line and is red/orange. Also most mower shops sell it.

Thank you. I hit the Ace Hardware local all they had was 1/4. Hit the weedeater/chainsaw shop they were out. Did not try Lowes or Home Depot since I have to order the oil filter figured just order it all online.

Got the fuel tank and oil tank washed out and back in the ski today. All the new lines are connected.

I noticed when I connected the lines to the fuel shut off valve the trim plate was upside down. Can someone tell me the correct positions for the fuel knob and trim plate. I think it is 9:00 is on,12:00 Off,3:00 RES.. I could be wrong. I looked in op guide and did not see an image to see if I was correct. I hate working behind someone that has taking shortcuts. When I took old fuel valve off RES on trim plate was upside down 9:00 position ( or looking towards the stern).

Thank
Tim

Well it will run for a few seconds via putting a couple squirts of mixed fuel in carbs. I put 2 gallons of fuel premixed in the tank and new XPS oil in tank. Time to pull carbs.and rebuild since it will run somewhat.
Do I need the full set of JIS screwdrivers or will the #900 +2 be all that is needed for the rebuild.

Next question is there a way to do extended run of engine on driveway using the water
hose. What I wanting to do is let it run 10-15 minutes after carb build to make sure no leaks etc. Can I connect it to the flush adapter and also spray water fron another hose on the impeller to keep it cool. If need be I guess I can back it down ramp and run it on trailer to check it out.

Looks like I will need to do the overlay on info gauge as it is not readable and also replace the warning buzzer maybe if after diagnosing all else in the circuit is good. I have no buzzer when first attaching the DES.

Thanks
Tim

1 min tops on the flush adapter carbon seal will fail if longer better off backing down ramp. Get full set of jis drivers also an impact screwdriver will keep you from stripped screws.

1of500.

Thanks for information. Impact screw driver I have. No JIS in my tool kit. I do not remember any special screws on my 125,250,490yz, or TT500. I know the Bultaco's did not have them.

Hello All,

Working on a 99 GTX Limited. Wanting to remove the Information Center gauge to replace the polarizing film. Does the gauge just pop out of the rubber grommet it is in or do I need to remove the cluster from the hood.
