Hi guys, Finally got my 99 GTX 951 on the river for first time since buying it. It has 230 hrs. never in salt. 120 psi mag, 130 pto psi. I know thats not optimum, but for the price I paid ,I said go for it. Ran great on trailer when purchased. It sat for 4 years before purchase so I rebuilt carbs. Water in jet pump so I did a complete rebuild. Owner told me carbon seal leaked, so that was replaced. Fuel and oil tanks removed and cleaned. Got her on the river yesterday, and she ran great! Rode for about 2 hours with no issues. Upon returning home, when flushing engine, it makes a horrible squealing noise from somewhere in the engine bay. It sounds like a shaft spinning in a dry bearing sleeve. Slight increase in rpm it gets worse. My first thought was bad crank bearings, but theres no knock. Could it be the new carbon seal squealing out of the water? I shut it off and havent run it again. Thanks!

Checked compression today, got 115 mag, 120 pto. Started right up. Noise is coming from carb side towards front i believe. I dont think it has anything to do with carbon ring. Not sure what to do next.

At those compression numbers and how fast it dropped that engine is toast.

The squeal is either a crank bearing or counter balancer shaft bearing getting ready to grenade the engine.

That pretty much what i was thinking, I was just hoping it was a simple fix. Im probably going to rebuild it, its never been opened before. Its not worth anything with a bad engine. Thanks!
