As some of you know I'm a complete newb to sea doo's:willy_nilly:

took it for a ride today and noticed that when i'm down to between 2k and 3k the engine seems to run pretty rough. sometimes coming out of a hard turn when i punch it, it kinds of stumbles then picks right up and goes like it should.
I am wondering if there is a common thing in this particular model I should look for first?
I'm thinking it just needs a carb tweak on the low speed jet, I am going to put in a new set of plugs and see if that helps.

It has 150 hrs, only run super and synthetic amzoil.
thanks in advance,
dave

Whats the service record like for your machine? When were the carbs last serviced or rebuilt?

I can't answer that, it had been fogged and the day I purchased it was the first time it had been run this year.
do you think I should clean them? I thought with this new ethanol fuel that cleaning carbs would be a thing of the past as long as it didn't sit there forever. Ethanol is a great solvent.

any tricks I need to know to pull the carbs? I'm pretty mechanicaly inclined but any advice is greatly appreciated.
what's the deal with the grey fuel lines? they seem to let in enough fuel because this thing runs superb at plane speed to wot. I can hit 65 mph no problem.
thanks again,
dave

ur choice on the fuel lines, but to remove the carbs, undo metal clip, up behind the pipe, then snorkel out the air ducts and airlid. Then got access to carbs.

I pulled the plugs and one of them looked a little fouled so I replaced them both, the thing fired almost instantly with the touch of the start button (something it has never done). Plugs were gapped way wide so I am thinking it was time for new ones anyway.
I will throw it in the lake later today and see how it runs.

well sadly the plugs didn't help, I forgot to mention earlier that I put a can od seafoam in it. After taking it for a rip on the lake it now won't top out, It still has the low end stumble and now I can't get top end out of it. I'm thinking that the seafoam may have stirred things up so I am going to try and pull the carbs tomorrow.

QUESTION: do I have to take the big black exhaust tube thing off to get at the carbs? It's bolted on top between carbs. It looks as though that is what I have to do.
thanks for any help,
dave

ok, here's what I found this morning, the wear ring is all but gone, mangled around the venturi! Just the outer lip is still attached to the drive housing.
If it wasn't for needing the special impeller removal tool I would have it apart. I figure I may as well do bearings, seals etc. etc. while I have it apart.
Too bad there are no parts stores open around here on a Sunday :(
Thanks to the help here I tackled this, I'm pretty mechanicaly inclined so it wasn't a big deal.

got my new parts today, ronnieswarehouse had them all in stock and they are within driving distance for me. I went with wear ring, new needle bearings, o rings and seal, installing the bearings was a little tricky but other than that it went well. It's all back together but haven't had a chance to throw it in the water, hopefuly tomorrow.
A trick I used to get the prop off without the special tool was to wedge 3 pieces of wood in between the wear ring and the prop, then, while the shaft is in the vice, turned the whole housing and whamo!!! the prop was loose.

remove the airbox assy, and you'll have access to the carbs. dont need to remove the pipe.

I was hoping someone would say that! lol
It looks like it will still be a chore though, patience is NOT one of my virtues however, but I'm getting better at it.

OK, I put seafoam in last friday, rode it about a half an hour on sat. and it still had the "sstumble". If you didn't read all the above, I ended up having to replace the wear ring and I did bearings as well as long as I was in there.
I just got back from trying it out on the water today and there is NO stumble when going slower or getting on it to go hard. I think the seafoam got worked into the system and then sat for a few days and was able to work. Hopefuly I will have a trouble free rest of the season.
thanks to all here who offered advice and support.
