98 XP starting problems

Hi All, I guess im the new guy on here!!!!!!

just bought my first ever PWC, a 98 XP, its always had a starting problem, but that seemed to get better once i fitted a new battery. It always turned over three of four times then stopped, repress the button and its does the same, until it eventually starts.

At the week end it just would not start, and all i get now is a clicking from the black box in the front.

I have absolutely no idea what I should be looking for, any help would be greatly appreciated

Remove the starter, clean & inspect it. The commutator may be dirty, brushes need replaces. Take it to an auto part store, they usually Load test them for free. Read your Shop manual for the removal pics & proceedure.

Download the Shop Manual and the Parts Manual...it'll help you a ton getting to learn the insides and out of your xp, plus check the trouble shooting section :willy_nilly:s I sometimes have trouble with my xpl starting but I found if I always charge my battery the night before, everything tends to go well...full charge full fun~
