Sellers Posting---1998 Seadoo XP with new engine and rebuilt pump. Engine runs but there is an electrical issue likely in the main circuit box. Selling because I no longer need this seadoo and therefore dont want to spend the money on it. Would make a good little project or can be broken up and sold for parts but I dont have the time to do it so my loss is your gain.
---the seller is asking for $1600. I saw the value on this ski is $2400 w/trailer(good condition and running). I'm thinking of making $900-1000 offer. Is this too high or is the seller on the button with his price? The electrical trouble shooting shouldn't be a problem for me. Im familiar with industrial electrical work.
I don't want to be in over my head. Yall are the experts. What should I do? All coments and advice are welcome. I'm a newB and willing to listen and learn. Thanks y'all

It kind of depends on what the seller thinks the problems is.

If it has a roasted MPEM... it can get expensive quick. Also... a "Project ski" needs to be cheap. In the spring time, a nice 800 XP will bring $2200 to $2500 without a prob. So... I would say to offer him $1000, and see if he takes it. If he doesn't... I personally would walk away from it. If it's in PERFECT condition, on a nice aluminum trailer... I would do a compression check, to make sure the engine is OK... and check over EVERYTHING.

I bought a nice project ski last year, and it cost me about $125, and a few afternoon's worth of my time to get it going... but it's always a gamble with a project. My rule is to never pay more than the parts are worth. (if you need to part it out)

Last thing... when you have electrical problems... you may not know if any of the other electrical works. You may get it running, and find the gauges, and VTS system won't work.

Good luck.
