98 sportster 1800 starting questions

My boat runs great just installed both rebuilt engines and rebuilt carbs etc. They both run excellent but the problem is that one engine takes a while to start it cranks along time and then when it finally starts it seems u have to have it at full throttle and then when it fires it seems like its loaded up and and takes a moment to clear and catch up to itself. But once started it runs great with no issues. The other engine seems to start fairly quickly. I am haveing the same exact problem with my 94 spx. It takes a long time to start same exact problem. My question is what might be causing this and how quick should it fire?

replace the needles and seats, they're leaking causing the engine to extra rich and hard starting.

ok do you by any chance kno what size that needs for the sportster 1800 and what size for the spx? If not i guess i will have to take them apart and find out before I order.
