98 Gtx Limited Engine Out.

I have recently taken the engine out of my seadoo as I was having a few running/starting issues. The final straw was when the bendix gear disassembled itself.

I have a few questions that I would really appreciate help with.

When I took the engine out it pulled the shaft out of the rear of the craft, do I have to take the pump off the back now to make sure this has all gone back correct?

When I took the flywheel cover off there seemed to be a puddle of oil in the bottom of the case? Is this normal? Any ideas on how it got there?

I have decided that as the engine is out I will do as much as I can, seals etc. I noticed the bottom of the crankcase has been welded; looks like a little end damaged it. Is this ok? Should I be worried about this?

Finally I want to repaint all the parts as the paint is flaking off in places, any idea what paint to use? Also what colour it should be? (Seems like a dull silver)

i have a 97 xp and when i put my motor in after a rebuild i had to remve the cover for the drive shaft thers like a metel drive shaft and at each end thers a ruber ring that fits between the teeth I lined the shafts up and put the engine in place and everything was good for me now im prity shure an xp is set up differently then a gtx but im prity shure it will for the same for a gtx no promises
