I have a '98 GTS. I put a new maintenance free battery in at start of year. I keep it on a jet dock on lake erie.

Last week I went to start it and at first push of the button it made a whirring noise...not a click click like a dead battery. I tried again and it started right up and ran fine all day.

Today I started it up and it started fine. Rode for about an hour, and then turned it off (about 6 miles from my dock) to talk to another jet skier and it would not start, just the whirring noise. I kept trying till I think I drained the battery.

I had to get towed back to my dock!

I made sure battery connections were tight, I then pulled the battery to take home to charge.

I assume it has something to do witht he starter. Is the starter hard to get to? Could it be a connection where the battery cables connect at the end not at the battery?

Now comes the weird part. After I pulled the battery I hooked the cables up to a portable juimp pack I have. The ski started right up.

PLEASE HELP!

What is my problem?

Thanks,

Art

Hey Art, the starter isnt the eazyest thing to get to on those, its almost forsure the battery that you purchased, i run deka gell cells in mine, and i get the #2 batteries, which were returned as cores and made new again, thats ALL i run,, no problems with them, they surprise me how good they are, i would definately look into that battery, my 2 cents, if you ask 50 questions youll have a dollar!! hahaha good luck !
