Hi there newbie here! Bought a non running GSX limited. Charged the battery and connected it up. Push start button and engaged the key, got the 2 beeps trys to start but then the display goes off. Tried it a few times and the display would come on and off but would try to start. I did eventually get it go but then it would cut out and the display is off.

Had a look around tried it a little later on and it wouldn't start at all. Same thing would try to turn over but before it does one cycle it cuts out. It's also displaying 12v low but that disappears and then goes back to normal. I've check the battery and thats 12.7v I know its losing power as the clock keeps resetting its self after an attempted

I'm guessing its a wiring or start button issue but have little knowledge of these machines.
Where shoud I start looking?

Thanks in advance
Tom

Sounds like the voltage is dropping when cranking. How old is the battery? You need to check the voltage before and during cranking.

Not sure how old the battery is as it came with the craft. I'll have to check the cranking voltage. The battery was showing 12.7v when I started trying to fire it up. Checked it after several attempts and was still showing 12.6v but unsure what it was drawing when cranking

So I trued cranking it today with the meter on. When it did try it drops to 10.4 and went as low as 9.6v

I suspect it's an issue in the front of the ski start button/key plug

No, that would be a bad battery. Get a new, good and charged battery first. DO NOT jump it with a car or boost box ever!

It is fully charged. I charged it yesterday before starting work on the ski.

I might try jumping the solenoid to see if it's that?

Get the load tested on the battery. mine was showing a good voltage but when you put a load on it the voltage dropped down to 3volts and the box in the back buzzed.

I'm gonna put the battery on charge tonight and attack the ski tomorrow.
I'm getting a long beep a few seconds after the 2 beep which is a loss of connection so gonna look at sitting that.......

So the ski lives!!
Found a broken earth wire under the exhaust. But the new issue is the ski will start without the key on the post??
Further investigation it needs the key to initially start but then will turn over without the key on the post. It was beeping twice before I fixed the earth issues but now it runs the key doesn't beep all the time when on the post. So confused......

Yes very strange as I can't use the ski until this problem is sorted as I don't want to come off and the ski keep going!
