I baught a 97 GTX. I rebuilt the carbs (non mikuni) then had oil shoot from exhaust(not syre if it was related). Decided to pull the engine. Rebuilt it and put back together. It started first time go. Put it in the water to give it a run. It died a few times on the ramp but would run with throttle. Upon putting it in the water, it ran until throttle was released. Then wouldnt start again. When I got back to the shop, I put fuel in the cyliders to test; no go. Would not even kick. Spark is good cause I accidentally hit myself. What do you think could be the issue?

First off......using non-MIKUNI carb parts is a big no no. The carbs in these machines are so finicky, they really need to be at factory settings.......and the only real way to get there is to use genuine Mikuni parts...period end of story.

MANY have tried non-Mikuni (guilty before I knew better).....but we all end up coming back to Mikuni.....it's really not worth the fight.

Personally, I'd start there. Good luck.
