97 xp impellar noise??

hi can anyone tell me what the high pitch squeal is coming from my impellar,i was told the pump is on its way out,can i rebuild the pump

They are pretty easy to rebuild. All parts can usually be had for around $200-300, assuming something isn't damaged other than bearings, seals, wear ring, etc.

You will notice an improvement in speed and hopping out of the hole once you get it all put back together.

:agree: Scoops right. Probably have a bearing that is done for. You can by a rebuild kit for about $50. That's just all the bearings, seals, o ring. You may need new wear ring and impeller redone. But the kit will get you started.

thanks guys i pulled the pump apart(very easy) i have a kit coming overnight but theres one bearing on the cone end of the shaft that i cant work out how to remove.is there any suggestions as it looks like the shaft has a step down in the end

Are you talking the thrust bearing? sorta flat with needle bearings exposed on both sides?

If it doesn't just slide off, it may be what your problem is. Might be warped and stuck to the shaft...

thanks it was the thrust bearing and it was out of shape,pump is now rebuilt and ski is going great:cheers:
