hey guys, hope you can help, i have a 97 XP. Ive had it out a couple times this year, all has been well. i jumped on the other day, the boat had been runnin fine all morning and then it started backfiring under high load suddenly, you can hear it popping in the intake, the boat doesnt go very fast and gets worse and worse till the boat will only go 10mph. i looked around and saw the main feed line to the oil pump popped off. found engine mount a little loose, figured it had shifted too much and the pump hit the mount causing it to break off. i fixed the fitting on the pump, bled the system with the screw on pump, still does not run well. checked compressor for fear motor was damaged, both cylinders are blowin 149 each on the dot. starts and idles fine. a few things i was suspecting was i was in a bind a few weeks ago and needed oil on a sunday, couldnt get the rotax syn i was using so i used a "quicksilver" syn oil. it ran fine for a few days on the water and 1/4 tank of oil with it. dont know if the two oils dont mix well and maybe plugged up something? put new plugs in and tried to run at full throttle, checked them and they seem a bit wet and darker than normal, nothing crazy though just a bit off from usual. i always run 91 octane fuel aswell. im a licenced mechanic for mercedes benz so i am mechanically inclined so dont be afraid to throw your technical lingo my way. any idea what to start inspecting before i tear it all apart? thanks in advance.
